City Inn hotel, London UK

Project facts

Description City Inn hotel, London
Challenge Restricted access during exterior

To provide access for remedial work to the ceramic exterior tiles on this 14 storey central London hotel, SGB (Formerly Harsco Infrastructure) specified a series of suspended cradles. Access from below was restricted due to the building design and the client's desire for minimal disruption to the busy hotel.

Cradles were suspended from specially designed gantries supported by the building's existing roof rails. This allowed work to continue with minimal disruption to guests and with no obstructions at ground level. The electrically powered cradles were able to transport the work teams, their tools and materials to all the areas of the building that required access.
